About this Exhibit
How can teachers understand more about themselves as learners, as well as their unique voices as creative partners in their practices as educators? Visual arts faculty Lauren Cook and Josephine Monmaney considered these questions by adapting a tool common to professional educators, Teaching Portfolios.
Cook comments: “We chose a sample of our teaching units, examining them through the lens of our individual creative curiosities as adults and teachers. This meant we needed to identify various motivations for and expressions of creativity and learning in our own lives, and then consider how such forces affect our postures, insights, and biases as teachers as well as their impacts on our students. Viewers will see a sample of this interplay across many units of instruction in our teaching domain, the visual arts, with written commentary and original artworks.”
